Born from October 17

Shortly after October 17, 2019, a group of Lebanese expatriates who organized diaspora protests in various countries connected on WhatsApp. What began as a simple chatroom quickly grew into a vibrant platform for discussion, idea-sharing, and reimagining Lebanon’s future.

Through webinars, expert-led discussions, and civic education, a new network was formed, a network dedicated to driving meaningful change. Our energy shifted from protest to purpose.

A Turning Point for Identity & Action

October 17 was more than a moment of political upheaval. For early members of TLDN, it signaled a cultural shift for the Lebanese diaspora. For the first time in decades, thousands of us came together around a shared national narrative built on frustration, dignity, and hope.This was our starting point: not just to react, but to take meaningful, long-term action.

Turning Dialogue Into Commitment

Initially, the founders established a Social Contract, a civic pact outlining our responsibilities, vision, and diplomatic code of conduct.

This marked a pivotal moment: moving from open discussions to organized, coordinated action. While the Social Contract continues to guide our values and mission, TLDN has developed into a formal organization that has been officially registered and is now awaiting credentials from the Lebanese government.
