Aflatoun x Ajialouna: Empowering Lebanon’s Children with Values, Hope and Opportunity

Education & Civic Engagement

Aflatoun x Ajialouna is a transformative education and empowerment initiative giving underprivileged Lebanese children hope, values, and opportunity.

Rooted in four guiding principles — Non-Violence, Respect & Diversity, Gender Equality, and Optimism & Initiative— the program helps children become confident, active citizens who believe in their ability to create positive change.

Over time, Aflatoun x Ajialouna has evolved into a holistic ecosystem of interconnected programs that address the needs of children, parents, and educators alike:

  • Aflatoun Club: Social, emotional and financial learning for children
  • Afla Soccer: Teamwork, inclusion, and respect through sports
  • Teacher Training: Extending the impact into classrooms
  • Afla Mothers: Engaging parents and promoting positive parenting skills

Together, these efforts nurture empathy, equality, and active citizenship — shaping a generation ready to rebuild Lebanon with heart and hope.

Aflatoun x Ajialouna has been supported and empowered by TLDN since its inception.

TLDN X Amis clac Initiative

Sector

TLDN is working closely alongside Amis clac (a local Lebanese NGO) to strengthen their Peace Building work in fringe societies in Lebanon. This collaboration aims to support the upcoming youth as pillars of their post conflict communities, building long lasting peace. This collaboration involves training in conflict resolution, strategic planning, peace building and student leadership. This initiative has so far involved 300 high school students in 2 years.

Phase 1 of TLDNxAmis Clac Initiative is to establish a Student Council at Barja Public High School. The project aims to enhance student participation in civic and political life by organizing student elections and training students on electoral laws and the democratic process, contributing to the development of their democratic awareness and leadership skills.
This milestone has been successfully achieved.

Phase 2 of this collaboration is to build on the success of Phase 1 and repeat the experience in Dr Hikmat Sabbagh Public High School in Saida. The project kicked off in April 2025,

TLDN X Stouh Beirut: Femmes du Soleil Initiative

Education & Civic Engagement

TLDN x Stouh Beirut (through the Lebanese Diaspora Committee) Femmes du Soleil Initiative

This initiative is a first project for TLDN through the Lebanese Diaspora Committee in collaboration with the NGO Stouh Beirut. This collaboration is another successful example of Diaspora organisation x local NGO partnership, matched by international donations through H2H and UKAid, that supports health and health education for vulnerable women, and their families, in Lebanon. Women’s health remains a critically underserviced area in the Lebanese health sector.

TLDN’s role was to amplify Diaspora awareness of the acute needs of Women Shelters and Women Health Centres, as well as crowdfunding to make the Femmes du Soleil -Women’s Health Clinic a reality.

This initiative was successful in funding the establishment of a specialized Women’s Health Clinic (MOU in place with the Ministry of Social Affairs) providing medical check ups and essential healthcare services for residents of the Femmes du Soleil Women’s Shelter and external beneficiaries. Women residing in the shelter will also benefit from a comprehensive Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) program, helping them overcome trauma and build psychological resilience.

Official opening is in November 2025.
